Wake the children
Warn them the night is coming
They must set aside their playthings
Put their hands to the plow.
Wake the children
While the sun is setting
Fill and trim the lanterns
While opportunity allows.
Wake the children
They must face the boggart
Who dances in shadows
As they sleep through the night.
Remind the children
‘Though the darkness frightens them,
Morning swiftly approaches
Then returns the Light.
Then Jesus returned to the disciples and found them sleeping. “Were you not able to keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter. “Watch and pray so that you will not enter into temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak” (Mathew 26:40-41).
